The Bluebell Railway is a railway held somewhere in England. Both Alfred and Stepney are from this heritage railway to where they work on passenger duties.

In 1983, Stepney told about the railway to Diesel. He talked about Fenchurch, one of his brothers and then Alfred, who previously was on the NWR; appearing in both Identity and Snowstorm of Season 1. The gold tank engine also told about one of Diesel's brothers who survived being withdrawn from service and the Class 08 was pleased to hear it; since his brothers were scrapped in 1967/1981. When Alfred brought the transmitter for the Peel Godred Branch Line, the narrator mentioned that he can go back to the railway with Stepney in tow and return to England as soon as possible by Stepney's Controller, who says that the railway needed them home immediately.
