Changes is the thirteenth episode of Season 3, and the thirty-first episode overall.

Robert, the driver of Thomas is going to retire because he will be turning fifty-five in a couple of months since he was born in 1928. The blue tank engine was upset about this and Robert is to become the new stationmaster at Elsbridge station. The Fat Controller has told the blue tank engine that his former driver had successfully made his promotion for stationmaster, while he sent Harry to be Thomas' new driver. The new fireman is named Jeremy Watson who is to come tomorrow morning to get Thomas ready. Jeremy arrived with Harry and Thomas made his first run with Annie and Clarabel heading towards Dryaw when he was feeling itchy.

With the tank engine feeling stuffed up and Henry saying to have a good sneeze, Thomas is put onto a siding as Jeremy starts to poke around with the handle of a broom, only to find a stone thrown by some boys on a bridge near Dryaw being shown to the entire group. Then minutes later, Thomas then leaves for his next train as James chuffed by with a goods train in tow.

  • The boys throwing stones at Thomas is similar to the Railway Series story, Henry's Sneeze.

  • Some of Thomas' faces were tilted throughout this episode.
