Bio

Charlie was first mentioned in STEY episode 55, 'Expectations', as traveling in Canada at the time. Having been bitten by the travel bug, he's traveled extensively since then and has the T-shirts to prove it. On one of the occasions when he was home on Sodor, in 1996, he helped his younger sister Emily discover Peter the Heavy Goods Engine and restore the steam engine to service.

In 1999, Charlie returned to Sodor and used his experiences traveling to launch a career in television, firstly as a presenter on travel/lifestyle shows.  Mentored by Charles West, the director of news for Sodor Nightly News, he went on to became a local news reporter, then news anchor.

During the 2010 general election, Charlie ran as an independent candidate for the seat of Sodor, but was unsuccessful in his bid to enter Westminster. Following this, he has returned to his career as a news anchor and TV presenter. In 2011, he researched and hosted a documentary series, 'Charlie Hatt's Railways of Sodor', which looked at the history of the railways and branchlines on Sodor.
