Grand Opening is the second episode of Season 2, and the fourteenth episode overall.

Plot

The Small Railway's construction is completed and a grand opening will occur the next day. Rex and Bert are appointed passenger duties and Mike is given good work, to demonstrate the ballast hopper. He isn't happy about this and later that day he derails two hoppers which fall into Donald's tender. The manager scolded Mike and told him to stay in the shed.

Douglas and Thomas arrive with special trains for the passengers. Bert breaks down however and Mike has to rescue him. The train reaches Arlesburgh West and the passengers applaud Mike's efforts. The manager congratulates Mike and sends Bert to be rebuilt, to stop his boiler troubles once and for all.
