First Impressions is the sixth episode of Season 3, and the twenty-fourth episode overall.
Henry and the Scottish engine, Donald were talking about the Fat Controller's plans which Gordon was sent to do a goods run to Great Britain and Alfred has returned to the North West Railway for more work. Henry was sent to collect his next train. Gordon returned next day to the sheds feeling unpleasant and Alfred came to see him with a cheery hello. Gordon was angry and said to Alfred if he could cause any more accidents since 1923 but the B12 thought Gordon withdrew the incident. The last time Alfred was on the NWR from Gordon was about the snow, but Alfred exploded with anger because of the passengers but went off in a huff before Gordon spoke more about it. Diesel also met Alfred at the yards in Knapford and also met the Class 08s before which were considered rude and rough boxes on wheels.
Alfred was in a bad mood before setting off and at night when the rain was forecasted, Diesel was also in a bad way by Alfred's message and the Troublesome Trucks weren't matters of help of which they sang Pop Goes the Diesel for the first time. The Class 08 shunter told them to stop this minute, but bumped a line of trucks too hard and derailed Henry by accident with two horrified looks (including Diesel's). Sir Charles Topham Hatt came to the scene and Alfred brings the Breakdown Train. Alfred was told to haul the Flying Kipper and his milk tankers at a time. He was stuck on Gordon's Hill and Diesel helped him with this before thanking the Class 08 shunter and chuffed off. At Barrow-in-Furness, Alfred apologized and Diesel thanked him before wondering about the apology from the B12. Later, the B12 took a high-voltage transformer to Peel Godred before joining Stepney to go back to the Bluebell Railway in Great Britain.
