Expectations Doubts

Harvest Season is the fourth episode of Season 5, and the fifty-sixth episode overall.

It is a very pleasant morning on the Island of Sodor and Douglas puffs in with a goods train under the shed roof. Bert is shunting some trucks and is very worried about something. Douglas speaks to him about his downcast and Bert told him that the farmers' produce of wool is moving by road instead of rail. After the conversation, Bert asked about the new flatcars which Douglas said that these are used for containers and handling some heavier goods. The entire railway was in doubt of farm produce and taking ballast wagons plus passengers to see sights of the railway. One evening, Mike talked about the problem and Jock agreed with everything that he knew about. A moment later, The Small Controller talked to them about the produce and is now being sent to them. After this, the controller walked away to his office.

Jock early next morning was reversing to the loading platform for the workmen to load the product into his vans. A lorry pulled up and rudely talked to Jock about the produce being sent to the railway. Jock responded with saying about the wool being sent by road. A few minutes after the conversation, Jock chuffed out of the platform feeling cross from the lorry's remarks about sending tons of wool by road. The engines at the shed rallied together with Rex saying about Bert's drenching of two clergymen back in 1967 and was a lesson very learnt since then. Jock arrived next morning only to find no sign of the lorry leaving the final van empty on Jock's train. When arriving at Arlesdale, a car crashed into a fire hydrant and the police were interviewing the driver. The train chuffed along the rail crossing, but the lorry forced Jock to stop the train saying that he has fresh fruit and vegetables loaded on him plus the green grocers won't be happy if he arrives late and the produce wouldn't be fresh enough.

Jock's final van was loaded up and he chuffed off. With some conversation from Bert, the blue tender engine puffed off under the bridge and into the countryside with a cuckoo being heard in the background. Bert and The Small Controller at Arlesburgh West talked about the produce and travelling by road for the farmers. A couple of days later, Bert and Jock double-headed a train of vans starting off with the loading of fresh products and the lorry owning an apology to Jock about his teasing. Finally about ten minutes later, the train puffed away from the loading platform once the vans are loaded up.
