Henry Sees Red is the seventeenth episode of Season 3, and the thirty-fifth episode overall.

Plot

One morning, James leaves the sheds to collect his train. Alfred is waiting for the turntable to move to his berth, but the engines are informed by the operator that it has jammed, and could take all day to fix. The Fat Controller decides that Henry will have to pull the express, with Gordon trapped at the sheds. At the works, Henry is almost ready to go, and is just waiting a new coat of paint. After the workmen apply the red undercoat, the foreman comes in, telling Henry the news.

Much to Henry's dismay, he arrives at Knapford to take the express. The Fat Controller is there and gives him his gratitude, and James provides some observations. The train leaves Knapford, and just as the train approaches Wellsworth, the coaches seem to get heavier. It is found that one of the brake lines has a hole in it. Henry has to shunt the broken coach into a siding, and continues the journey to At Barrow-in-Furness. Henry meets Patrick and they talk about the engine shortage. The Fat Controller says to Henry that he did a fantastic job, and news came that the turntable has been repaired. The Fat Controller sends Henry back to the works to complete his repaint.
