One Good Deed is the fourth episode of Season 4, and the fortieth episode overall.

Plot

One afternoon, James is delivering a supply train for the Kirk Ronan Branch Line reconstruction, but on approach the points were directed to the sheds and James crashes into them. At Tidmouth Sheds, The Fat Controller speaks to the engines about the accident, and that James will have to be repaired. Alice offers to take two supply trains a day, to which The Fat Controller agrees.

At the Coaling Plant, a few weeks after James' accident, Oliver meets Alice, hauling a supply train. Oliver and Alice talk about engines on The Other Railway, and how a lot of the diesels are being withdrawn. Oliver flashes back to the time D7101 helped him escape to Sodor, and gets concerned. He speaks to Duck about it, who reassures him and suggests talking to The Fat Controller.

At Knapford, Oliver tells The Fat Controller about D7101 and how he turned a blind eye while he was escaping. The Fat Controller considers Oliver's suggestion, and at the yards, the next day, Diesel is told to shunt another supply train, to his surprise. D7101 arrives and thanks The Fat Controller for bringing him to Sodor. At Tidmouth, D7101 talks to Oliver about his escape and how lucky they both are. However, D7101 does not mention that he will be sent away once James has been repaired.
