Roger was the first engine from the old Sodor & Mainland Railway.
Bio
Roger was built by Neilson & Company of Glasgow, Scotland in 1856 alongside his brothers, Neil and Clive, for the old Sodor & Mainland Railway Company. When the S&M pulled together with the Tidmouth, Knapford and Suddery Railway to form the North West Railway, the three S&M engines worked with Thomas, Edward, Colin, Lily and Adam to help Sir Topham Hatt I run the railway. In 1923, Roger showed Thomas where the little blue tank engine's new coaches, Annie and Clarabel were. However in 1934, Roger, along with Colin, Lily, Adam and Clive were sent for scrap when the railway was facing financial difficulties, with only Neil surviving. While Lily managed to escape, Roger and the rest were left in pieces.
Persona
Not much is known about Roger, but it can be assumed he is helpful.
Livery
Roger is painted, the S&M's standard green livery with black wheels and a golden whistle. He has S&M 1 written on both sides of his tanks in gold.
Basis
Roger, like his S&M workmates, is a Neilson 0-4-0 box tank built in 1856.
